Kidzklub Marple
Since starting the Kidzklub in Marple on the 2nd May 2003 it has grown in popularity. Not least by the introduction of the Disco nights and the Cinema nights. Numbers continue to be an average of 40 each week during term time. Even the team of volunteers continues to grow with this year a large number of Junior leaders, that’s those in year 7 and 8. Their development over the year has been particularly encouraging.

New Mills
New for this year has been the launch of the Kidzklub in New Mills. With a new team of volunteers the club has begun slowly but there are great expectations. |
JIGSAW clubs become puzzling
Jigsaw clubs had been established long before our youth and Children’s out reach worker came along. Four primary schools had then set up either during the lunch time or after school.
All that was needed at that time was a bringing together of the volunteers and the organising of the material for the clubs. But nothing can be that simple as things change. Some of the volunteers wanted to move on and so new recruits had to be found. By the middle of last year all seemed well. However since then again there has been further changes.
All now run in the lunchtimes which realise heavily on the school to help by letting those who wish to come, to go to early lunch setting. Nevertheless the numbers in each case has fallen which is puzzling. On reflection we feel that this could be due to the popularity of the Kidzklub which happens after school and so the children go there in stead. Or it could be as the schools offer a wider choice of activities at both lunchtimes and after school the children are making choices. Please pray that we get it right. |
R.E. Lessons on the bus
In our last letter we said that R.E. lessons were to start on the 17th February at Rosehill School. This was the pilot and ran for four weeks. Such was the success of the event that the school asked us to repeat it the next term. We did this for a further four weeks but not just in the one school. This time we were busy on two afternoons one at Rosehill School and now also at All Saints School.
We now intend to continue this work with further four week slots arranged in the two schools. We also plan to expand the work to include the other two Primary schools. We thank the Lord and the schools for the encouragement. |
